Senior Azure Data Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer to join our team and take a lead role in designing, developing, and managing data solutions on the Azure cloud platform. As a Senior Azure Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into meaningful insights, ensuring data accuracy, and contributing to the strategic direction of our data architecture.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable Azure-based data solutions
  • Design, implement, and manage end-to-end data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and related technologies.
  • Develop and deploy data integration and transformation processes to consolidate, cleanse, and enrich data from various sources
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, storage, and indexing in Azure SQL databases and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Optimize data solutions for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, leveraging Azure services.
  • Design and implement data security, access controls, and compliance measures in accordance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Analysts, and other stakeholders to provide accurate and timely data for analytics and reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, performance, and data quality.
  • Stay updated with the latest Azure technologies and trends in data engineering to ensure continuous improvement of our data solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers on technical best practices and development methodologies.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and adherence to coding standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven track record of 5-8 years in Azure data engineering, with a focus on data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
  • Strong expertise in designing and implementing data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, and related Azure services.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries and scripting for data transformation and integration.
  • Experience with data modeling, database design, and optimization for Azure SQL databases and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps for CI/CD and version control.
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles and practices for data protection and compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex data engineering issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prior experience mentoring and guiding junior data engineers is advantageous.
  • Microsoft certified Azure Data Engineer certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and containerization (Docker) is desirable.
